Sgt. Donald Malarkey (1921-2017) was a noncommissioned Army officer with the 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, in the 101st Airborne Division. His company was featured in the book, Band of Brothers, by Stephen Ambrose and an HBO miniseries by the same name.
