Comments: This work, one of the last by Joseph Stalin before his death in 1953, was written in 1951 in Moscow. Stalin argues that the Soviet Union had reached the “lower stages” of the communist ideal. The economic debate of the time revolved around the law of value and if in a socialist economy there was still inherent value in objects. Stalin argued against the socialist ideal of Marx and believed that the law of value was still applicable. This work is a reproduction of an English pamphlet of the same name, published in Moscow in 1952.
