First American edition of Flight to Arras by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, translated from the French by Lewis Galantière.

Octavo, 255pp. Blue cloth, title in gilt on spine and front board. No additional printings listed on copyright page. Solid text block, illustrated endpapers, faint toning to edges, a near fine example. While best remembered for his classic novella The Little Prince (Le Petit Prince), Saint-Exupéry was an aviator and member of the French Air Force. This book, originally titled Pilote de Guerre, recounts Saint-Exupéry’s experience during the Battle of France in 1940. This work received the prestigious Grand Prix Littéraire de l’Aéro-Club de France, awarded to notable members of the aviation community.
