Description
From the 100th birthday celebration of Secretary of State George P. Shultz, the personal photograph album, compiled for friends and family.
Square octavo, [50 leaves]. Custom maroon leather holder, photograph of Secretary Shultz on the front cover. Tissue paper affixed to each leaf, with 70 illustrations, each affixed to individual leaves. Nearly all illustrations include a descriptive caption. Small crease through title page, faint toning to margins, solid text block. From an acquaintance of Secretary Shultz, it is believed that 300 copies of the photo album were produced in total and issued in maroon or black leather bindings. The binding was produced by Daisy Arts and handmade in Italy.
The album includes photographs from the childhood of Secretary Shultz, his time in the Marine Corps, the Ford Administration, and later the Reagan administration. The last photographs show Secretary Shultz at the Hoover Institute, at his wedding to Charlotte Mailliard, and with grandchildren.
A scarce work, with no other known copies appearing on the public market.
