Description

First edition of Ghosts by Edith Wharton, as published by D. Appleton in 1937. Octavo, xii, [2], 406pp. Full blue cloth, title in gilt on spine. This is the first printing, with (1) present on final page of text. Solid text block, light wear to head and tail of spine, a near fine example with vibrant gilt.

Ghosts unites a number of Edith Wharton’s haunting stories from over three decades of her career, including titles like All Souls’, The Eyes, Afterward, The Lady’s Maid’s Bell, and more. This publication is often confused with an earlier collection of short stories by Wharton titled Tales of Men and Ghosts, originally published by Charles Scribner’s Sons in 1910.
