Kofi Annan (1938-2018) was a diplomat from Ghana who served as the seventh Secretary-General of the United Nations from 1997-2006. He received the Nobel Peace Prize in 2001 alongside the United Nations for their efforts to create a “more peaceful world,” as well as his work against HIV in Africa and his opposition to terrorism.
