This ABC-TV 20/20 interview with former President Ronald Reagan followed a controversial trip to Japan, where he raised $2 Million dollars from the Fujisankei Communications Group. Barbara Walters addressed the controversy, to which Reagan responded: “There would have been more money than that if I’d decided to go back to my original career and go back to pictures…I would have made a lot more money, but I have felt that going back to something like the motion picture industry – even though I had been an actor for so many years – would be cashing in on the presidency.”
Other topics covered in the wide-ranging interview included Ronald Reagan’s recent horse riding accident, Nancy Reagan’s new book titled “My Turn,” abortion rights, and the legacy of the Reagan Administration.
