First edition of Kissinger by Marvin and Bernard Kalb, inscribed by Secretary of State Henry Kissinger to his lead secret service agent, Gary M. McLeod.

Octavo, xiii, 577pp. Black cloth, title stamped in gilt and red on spine. Stated “first edition” on copyright page. Light sunning to top edge of cloth, otherwise a fine copy. In the publisher’s near fine dust jacket, faint toning to spine, retail price on the front flap. Signed on the front free endpaper: “To Gary McLeod, With much appreciation and high regard. Henry A. Kissinger.” Includes the business card of agent McLeod affixed to the front free endpaper. A unique association piece.

Special Agent Gary M. McLeod was a lifelong agent with the United States Secret Service. He was the lead secret service agent in 1971 when Kissinger made a secret trip to China, to lay the foundation for the visit of President Richard Nixon the following year.
