Quarto, xvii, [3], 198pp. In publisher’s original decorative cloth, title in gilt on spine, embossed black and gold illustrations on covers. Publisher’s original cloth laid down over contemporary cloth, repaired spine, reinforced hinges, toning to cloth on spine. Occasional light foxing, limited to free endpapers. Complete with frontispiece, 7 full page steel engravings and 2 chromolithographs. All edges gilt. Inscribed by Queen Victoria on the front free endpaper: “To Fleet Surgeon Henry C. Woods, R.N., from Victoria R.I. Balmoral June 17, 1892.”
