Complete with 17 illustrated plates by Thomas Medland, after Thomas Stothard. Includes the 8 page catalogue in Volume II and binding instructions in preface of Volume I. Thomas Stothard was the “first English artist to realize the visual potential of Robinson Crusoe” with his depiction of Crusoe being an emphasis of contentment, harmony, and the nobility of man. (Lowndes II, p. 613.)
