Octavo, xii, 275pp. Title stamped on spine in gilt. Stated “first edition” on copyright page. Top edge blue. Likely never read, but with bumped top corner. In publisher’s first state dust jacket, $2.50 on front flap, light wear along top edge. Housed in custom purple cloth slipcase. This book is inscribed to Anson Conger Goodyear, a prominent member of the Goodyear family and the first president of the Museum of Modern Art in New York. Inscribed on the half title: “For Mr. Conger Goodyear. From Anne and Charles Lindbergh. Illiec, 1938.”
Anne Morrow Lindbergh was an award winning author and pioneering aviator. She was the wife of Charles Lindbergh until his death in 1974. Her work, Gift from the Sea (1955) was a national best seller. Her first work, North to the Orient, recounted her early adventures with Charles Lindbergh. She was a ghostwriter on Lindbergh’s Pulitzer prize winning autobiography, The Spirit of St. Louis, published in 1953.
