First edition of Little America by Richard Byrd, signed by the author. Octavo, xvi, 422pp. Blue cloth, title in gilt on spine and front panel. Stated “first edition” on copyright page. Top edge dyed green, photographic endpapers. Multiple photographic illustrations and fold-out maps. Signed by author and explorer, Richard Byrd, on half title. Additional inscription by author and Byrd biographer Lieutenant Harry Adams. Inscription reads: “Lieutenant Harry Adams. Inscribed with the (?), from which has been over the South Pole.” Lieutenant Harry Adams wrote “Beyond the Barrier With Byrd” in 1932. (Conrad 253) (Taurus 114)

Comments: Richard E. Byrd was an American naval officer and polar explorer. He was known for being the first explorer to reach the North Pole and South Pole by air, but those claims are disputed.
