The Memoirs by Harry S. Truman were published separately in two volumes, the first edition of Volume I appearing in 1955 with a retail price of $5.00 and “first edition” stated on the copyright page. The second volume followed in 1956, also priced at $5.00 and stating “first edition” on the copyright page. A combined set, known as the Kansas City Edition was released in 1956, with a retail price of $8.50, if purchased as a set. The Kansas City Edition had distinctive dust jackets and endpapers. This two-volume set was released in 1958 by the publisher, for a combined price of $4.50 and with a cardboard display sleeve for booksellers.
