Inscription reads: “For Mrs. Dean Acheson with best wishes, James L. Collins, Jr. 18 October 1976, Washington.” James L. Collins, Jr. was the older brother of Apollo 11 astronaut Michael Collins, a distinguished career military officer and US Army Chief of Military History. The recipient, Mrs. Dean (Alice) Acheson, was the wife of Secretary of State Dean Acheson.
