Frontispiece portrait with tissue cover in each volume. Dampstain affecting lower quarter of frontispiece and title page of Volume I, otherwise fine. Professional reinforcement to front hinges, solid text block in both volumes. Multiple maps and illustrations, complete in both volumes. Philip Henry Sheridan (1831-1888) served as a Union General during the Civil War and was notable for his close relationship with General-in-Chief Ulysses S. Grant.
