Green cloth, gilt title on spine, gilt decorative illustration on cover, shelf wear at edges of spine, some warping of cloth. Frontispiece portrait with tissue cover in both volumes. Previous ownership bookplate in Volume I. Some fraying at rear hinge of Volume I, text block sound. Multiple illustrated maps and illustrations, complete in both volumes. (Nevins II, 88pp.) Clean pages, bright illustrations, an acceptable copy.
Comments: Philip Henry Sheridan (1831-1888) served as a Union General during the Civil War and was notable for his close relationship with General-in-Chief Ulysses S. Grant.
