Sargent Shriver.” Includes letter, signed “Sarge” and dated November 6, 1964.
Comments: Sargent Shriver (1915-2011) was the driving force behind the Peace Corps and founded the United States Job Corps and Head Start programs. He was the democratic nominee for vice president in 1972, replacing Thomas Eagleton. Shriver was introduced to the Kennedy family shortly after WWII and married Eunice Kennedy in 1953.
