The second edition of Round The World, signed by the author, Andrew Carnegie.

Octavo, vi, [2], 360pp, [8pp catalogue]. Publisher’s red cloth, title stamped in gilt on spine, illustration on cover. Light sunning to spine, rubbing to head of spine, drip mark on front cover. Solid text block, internally clean, front hinge reinforced. Housed in custom red cloth clamshell, title in gilt on label on spine.

Inscribed on the dedication page: “Telora Bryco / with best wishes of / Andrew Carnegie / New York / May 8, 1893.”

This work was first published in 1879 as Notes on a Trip Round the World, but was later changed to Round the World by Charles Scribner’s Sons in 1884. The book was initially released as part of a private edition for friends and acquaintances of the author, and later made more widely available. Carnegie’s travelogue focuses on his global travels in 1878-1879, in countries like India, China, Japan, and Egypt, where he discusses not only their cultural and political landscapes but also the impact of Western imperialism and industrialization.
