Signed photograph of President Ronald Reagan and Myra L. Tankersley at the reception for outgoing Attorney General William French Smith held in the Roosevelt Room of the White House on February 22, 1985.
Color photograph, measures 8″ x 10″. Stamped “Official Photograph / The White House / Washington” on verso. Includes description of the event taped to verso. Inscribed along bottom panel: “Dear Myra – We miss you here but are glad you are where you are. Warmest Regard. Ronald Reagan.” Ms. Tankersley had just returned to the Reagan’s personal law firm in California, Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP.
Provenance: The estate of Myra L. Tankersley, Executive Assistant William French Smith at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP and later Confidential Assistant when Smith was appointed Attorney General by President Ronald Reagan. Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher was the personal law firm of President Reagan before and during his administration, where Tankersley became a lifelong friend of President and Mrs. Ronald Reagan. She returned to California with Attorney General Smith in 1985.
