This autobiographical novel was first published by Editions Gallimard in Paris in 1992, with the title “Passion Simple.”

In 2022, Annie Ernaux became the first French woman to win the Nobel Prize in Literature, for the “courage and clinical acuity” with which she uncovers the roots and structures of personal memory. Her notable works include The Years, A Woman’s Story, and Happening.
