Gil Scott-Heron (1949-2011) is best known for his spoken word piece “The Revolution Will Not Be Televised,” which critiques media, consumerism, and political apathy. Small Talk at 125th and Lenox was released in 1970 both as this printed book and as a live album of Scott-Heron’s combination spoken word poems over jazz and rhythm beats.
