Octavo, iv, 316pp, [12pp ads]. Brown cloth, gilt title on spine, embossed cover. Solid text block, wear to corners, a near fine example. Expert restoration to spine and hinges. Contains first printing points, notably “dove” in the place of “dived” on page 96, line 7. The first printing was issued in October of 1855, with 5250 copies printed.
