Frontispiece portrait in Volume I. In publishers scarce dust jackets, $7.50 retail price on front flaps, light wear at edges with archival tape repair at spine, bright illustrations. In publishers slipcase, light shelf wear, but overall stable. An excellent example.
Comments: Military Aide Archibald Butt was appointed to serve President Theodore Roosevelt and William Howard Taft. He died in the Titanic disaster in 1912. This work is a “shrewd and fascinating estimate of two great presidents…in these informal and gossipy letters.”
