Inscribed on the half title by former President Harry S. Truman: “To William Sloat, kind regards from Harry Truman. 11-30-63.”

The author of this early biography on Harry Truman was the former administrative assistant and press secretary for President Franklin D. Roosevelt. Upon Roosevelt’s death in 1945, he become the first press secretary for the Truman Administration.
