Octavo, x, 242pp. Green hardcover, title in white on black cloth spine. Stated “First Printing, 1972” on copyright page. Solid text block, lightly bumped corners, foxing to top edge. In the publisher’s dust jacket, $5.95 retail price on front flap, light soiling to all panels, dampstain to hingeflaps. A two-inch loss to bottom of spine, rebacked with matching white dust jacket, a crude repair. (Blockson 5986) A scarce first printing, in any condition.

Gil Scott-Heron (1949-2011) is best known for his spoken word piece “The Revolution Will Not Be Televised,” which critiques media, consumerism, and political apathy.
