In the publisher’s first state dust jacket, $15.95 on the front flap, lacking the “Caldecott Medal” label on the front panel as expected, faint spotting to verso, bright illustrations, a near fine example.

The Polar Express was first published by Houghton Mifflin in 1985, written and illustrated by Chris Van Allsburg as a large-format picture book. The book won the 1986 Caldecott Medal and was later adapted into a major 2004 film, starring Tom Hanks. (Silvey, 660)
