The Souls of Black Folk by W.E.B. DuBois is a seminal work of African-American literature, addressing the experience of Black Americans in the United States at the turn of the 20th century. Notable essays from the book include “Of Our Spiritual Strivings,” “Of the Dawn of Freedom,” and “Of the Passing of the First-Born.” The Souls of Black Folk was first published on April 19, 1903 by A.C.
