Octavo, [11], 228pp. Red cloth, title printed in black, illustration of basketball court on front cover. First edition, first printing, with no additional printings mentioned. A few underlined passages, previous ownership label on the front free endpaper. In the publisher’s scarce dust jacket, faint shelf wear, bright illustrations and vibrant color on the spine.

This copy is inscribed to Dick Benno (1935-2003), a long-time high school basketball coach and teacher in Higginsville, Missouri.

Inscribed by Tex Winter on the front free endpaper: “Dear Dick, Glad you could make it to our clinic. I hope you got something out of the time you spent here. Also hope you got something out of this book. Good luck to you. Sincerely, Fred “Tex” Winter.”

A scarce signed copy of The Triple-Post Offense by the legendary coach, Fred “Tex” Winter.

Tex Winter (1922-2018) was named the head coach of Kansas State in 1953, where he found success using the triple post offense. His national profile rose in retirement, when in 1985 he was hired as an assistant coach with the Chicago Bulls. He taught the triple post offense to Michael Jordan, who would use the program to win six NBA championships in the 1990’s. He followed head coach Phil Jackson to the Los Angeles Lakers in 1999, and passed away in 2018.
