Comments: Ernst Hanfstaengl was a German business man and intimate of Adolf Hitler. He joined Hitler in 1923 during the Beer Hall Putsch and provided refuge at his home in Austria while he was being sought by authorities. Hanfstaengl fell out of favor with the fuhrer and defected to the United States before the outbreak of World War II.
