The recipient of this copy, Morton Downey (1901-1985), was a radio personality during the 1930’s, and known as “The Irish Nightingale.” Downey was a lifelong friend of Joe Kennedy, Sr., and was his neighbor in Hyannisport. During the summer of 1962, President and Mrs. Kennedy stayed at the Downey home, which afforded them more privacy.
