Frontispiece portrait of Roosevelt with tissue cover. Dampstain to top inside corner of frontispiece portrait and half-title, no other impact. Top edge gilt. Includes map of the route Roosevelt took through Africa and the complete set of illustrated plates. Lacking the dust jacket, as with most copies. (Cole & Vail, A29b) A nice example of the true first edition.
Theodore Roosevelt served as the 26th President of the United States. He was a prolific author, writing more than 18 books during his lifetime, beginning with The Naval War of 1812 in 1882. His other notable works include The Winning of the West, African Game Trails, and The Rough Riders.
