Paul Broun, Jr. is a physician who started a practice in Americas, Georgia in the mid-1970s. While President Carter was in office, he took over the care of the president’s brother, Billy Carter. He made national headlines when he assisted Billy Carter into an alcohol treatment facility, all the while consulting with President Carter on his care. Dr. Broun would go on to represent Georgia’s 10th Congressional District from 2007 – 2015. His father, Paul Broun, Sr., was a lifelong Democrat who served in the Georgia State Senate.
