The first edition, first issue of this book is distinguished by the red wings in the center of the title page. The second issue of this book, privately printed by Robert Kennedy in 1965 as a Christmas Gift for family and friends, has the title page printed in all black. Only 250 copies of the second edition were believed to be printed. This book was edited by John Kennedy as a tribute to his brother, Joe Kennedy, who was killed in action during World War II, while serving as a bomber pilot.Eunice Kennedy Shriver (1921-2009) founded the Special Olympics in 1968. In 1953, she married Sargent Shriver, who became an active member of the Kennedy administration and Democratic nominee for vice president in 1972. She was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 1984 for her work on behalf of children with disabilities. She passed away in 2009.
