Mark Medoff (1940-2019) had a long career of writing, acting, and teaching theater and film. His breakthrough play was Children of a Lesser God, which won several awards, including the Tony Award for Best Play in 1980 and the Olivier Award for Play of the Year in 1981. Children of a Lesser God was revived on Broadway in 2018, receiving another round of notable nominations, including the Tony for Best Actress in a Leading Role in a Play.
