Staff Sgt. Ray Lambert was an Army medic during World War II, part of the first wave to land on Omaha Beach on D-Day. For his service in North Africa, Sicily and Normandy, Lambert was awarded four Purple Hearts and three Silver Stars. He died in 2021.
