William Faulkner (1897-1962) was an award-winning author with stories focusing on the American South. His work won the Nobel Prize in Literature and two Pulitzer Prizes for Fiction. A few specific pieces (most notably The Sound and the Fury) are considered to be in the top 100 best English-language novels of the 20th century. The title Go Down, Moses and Other Stories was shortened to Go Down Moses in later editions.
