Large octavo, [two volumes], 992pp; 920pp. Three-quarter maroon cloth, black cloth boards. Solid text blocks, light shelf wear to covers, a touch of rubbing to edges. Previous ownership stamp of notable Cincinnatian Daniel J. Ransohoff to bottom edge of text block and occasionally throughout text. Ownership inscription on the front flyleaf of volume two. Hundreds of engravings throughout text. Frontispieces in both volumes.
Daniel J. Ransohoff worked as a Community Development professor at the University of Cincinnati, as well as the community services director for Family Services of Cincinnati and Hamilton County.
