Octavo, ix, 442pp. Blue cloth, title in gilt on spine and cover. Stated “first printing” on copyright page. In publisher’s dust jacket, price-clipped, significant chipping along edges, toning to spine, a scarce dust jacket to find. Inscribed by Charles Dawes on the front free endpaper to his pastor in Evanston, Illinois. Inscription reads: “For my friend Dr. Hugh Elmer Brown, from Charles Dawes. January 5th, 1940.”
Charles G. Dawes was the 30th Vice President of the United States under President Calvin Coolidge and Ambassador to Great Britain under President Herbert Hoover.
