    Octavo, 374pp. Red cloth binding with gilt title on spine and front cover, facsimile signature in gilt over black. Solid text block, light wear to lower edge of covers. In publisher’s dust jacket, $5.00 retail price on front flap, tape repairs to verso and along top edge of spine, otherwise bright colors and illustrations. Signed on the front free endpaper: “To Carl S. Hallauer, With personal regards, J. Edgar Hoover. 3.25.58.”

    Carl S. Hallauer served as the President and Chairman of the Board of Bausch and Lomb Optical Company. He was active in politics, serving as a delegate to several Republican National Conventions. He was the recipient of the 1960 Horatio Alger Award, awarded annually to distinguished Americans who work from “rags to riches” in their careers. Mr. Hallauer died in 1971.
