Carl S. Hallauer served as the President and Chairman of the Board of Bausch and Lomb Optical Company. He was active in politics, serving as a delegate to several Republican National Conventions. He was the recipient of the 1960 Horatio Alger Award, awarded annually to distinguished Americans who work from “rags to riches” in their careers. Mr. Hallauer died in 1971.
