Contemporary quarter brown morocco, marbled boards, title in gilt on spine with decorative gilt tooling. Gilt on spine with notable wear and some loss. Text in French. Includes 54 steel engravings, 50 bird plates and 4 zoological plates. Missing the following numbered plates 23, 53, 55 and 56. A few plates are out of numerical sequence. Light toning to plates, most with tissue covers. Variable transference to the text block, with occasional heavy toning, all text is legible. Marbled endpapers, reinforced hinges.
The inscription on the title page reads: “Bibliothèque de John Quincy Adams.”
