Kenneth W. Stein was the first Director of the Carter Center from 1983-1986, and it’s Middle East Fellow from 1982-2006. Stein traveled frequently to the Middle East with President Carter and helped shape the Carter Center policy towards the region. With President Carter’s publication of Palestine Peace Not Apartheid in 2006, Prof. Stein resigned from the Carter Center, citing “intentional falsehoods and irresponsible remarks” in the book.
