Freda DeKnight (1909-1963) was a popular author and editor, working as the first food editor of Ebony magazine. Her cookbook, A Date With A Dish, was first published in 1948, with a recent reissue in 2014. The Ebony Cookbook features a number of recipes from homes across the country, as well as snippets from interviews with celebrities.
