This work by former President of the United States and Yale Law Professor, William H. Taft, is a collection of three lectures given by the author at the University of Virginia in January of 1915. The recipient of this inscribed copy, Dr. Edwin R. Hodge, was a member of the United States Medical Corps. He served in the Spanish-American War, Philippine Insurrection and World War I, where he achieved the rank of Major.
