Comments: Archibald Cox served as the U.S. Solicitor General during the Kennedy administration. He became a national icon when he was selected as the special prosecutor to investigate the Watergate Scandal. He refused an order by the White House to stop issuing subpoenas and was fired in what became known as the Saturday Night Massacre. The political fallout led to the eventual resignation of President Richard Nixon.
