Bob Livingston served in the House of Representatives from 1977-1999, becoming Chairman of the House Appropriations Committee. Representative Hale Boggs of Louisiana served in the House of Representatives from 1947 until his untimely death. He was House Majority Whip for many years, then Majority Leader from 1971-1973. Along with Representative Gerald R. Ford, Hale Boggs was asked to serve on the Warren Commission by President Lyndon Johnson. While campaigning in Alaska in 1972, Boggs’ plane disappeared and was never found. In a special election, Boggs’ wife Lindy was elected to fill his congressional seat and continued to serve as a Louisiana Representative until 1991.
