Quarto, 584pp. Red cloth, title in gilt on spine, illustrated endpapers. Multiple color photographic illustrations. No additional printings mentioned. Binding stable, but previously read, front hinge starting. In the publisher’s dust jacket, price clipped, sunning to spine, bright illustrations on covers.

This copy is inscribed by Major General Marshall B. Garth (1919-1995). Garth served with the 104th Division during World War II in Belgium and Holland, where he earned the British Military Cross, Silver Star, Bronze Star, and a Purple Heart. After World War II, he became a commissioned officer and served in China. He later served in Korea, spent three years at Supreme Allied Command in Europe, and did numerous tours at the Pentagon. During the Vietnam War, he commanded the III Corps and left the country with the last troops in 1974.
