In publishers dust jacket, fine condition, with $22.50 price on front flap. Inscribed by Secretary Kissinger on half title: “To Bill Safire, A valued colleague during most of the events described herein. With high regard (until his next critical column). Henry Kissinger.”
Comments: In an odd twist, while Safire was serving the Nixon administration, Henry Kissinger had his telephone lines tapped looking for political dirt. A few years later, after multiple scathing articles about the administration, Safire and Kissinger consider themselves good friends, with Kissinger hosting a book release party for Safire in New York.William Safire was a Pulitzer Prize winning conservative columnist for the New York Times. He was a frequent guest on Meet The Press, describing himself as the voice of “libertarian conservatives.” Before joining the New York Times, Safire served as a presidential speechwriter for President Richard Nixon and Vice President Spiro Agnew.
